all tee, no shade*

*AN EXPLORATION OF THE T-SHIRT IN THE GAY ASIAN DIASPORA

The exhibition forms part of a practice based research project that explores the relationship between the t-shirt archetype, and the intersection of race and sexuality in gay men of the Asian diasporas in Australia to speculate on opportunities for activism through fashion. It is an ongoing project exploring intersections of gender, masculinity, sexuality, performativity and race privilege embodied in sartorial street practice.

This event was presented as part of Virgin Australian Fashion Festival (VAMFF) Arts Program in 2020. It uses typical streetwear strategies and typologies to produce a range of wearable t-shirt artefacts. The presentation considers traditional commercial presentation strategies to consider how the ideas might be further expressed. The style names and description reveal some of the intended meaning including references to the lexicon from the community.

The t-shirts are offered in range of A+ sizing (because you've failed if you haven't achieved an A+): AAA+ AA+ A+ A++ A+++ A+++

Tees available here.
